FAQs

  • Among other things, sports coaches observe a player’s technique, unpack the mental game, track the progress, and collaborate to figure out what’s working and not working in pursuit of peak performance.

They support you and push you, especially when you feel like you’ve tried everything or considered every approach. They don’t give up on you, they aren’t scared of your dreams and the leaps of faith it takes to cultivate meaningful change.

Just like in sports, being coached is not always easy. The coach has to trust the athlete and the athlete has to trust the coach. Similarly, through listening and working together, you and I will learn to trust one another with your aspirations as the end goal.

Coaching is a partnership centered on growth and development within the client's goal(s). Coaching is future focused and goal centered. I will push you into new habits of thinking through pointed dialogue, inquiry and discovery.

My coaching is not just about the desired outcome. It’s about reflecting on and enjoying the process that must take place in order to have a meaningful impact in your work and life. This is challenging because our minds don’t love to spend a lot of time thinking about hard things. Many of us believe we don’t have the time, the bandwidth, or the energy to give proper attention where it matters. Coaching will help you move FORWARD with greater self awareness, new skills, confidence and integrity.

Everyone can use a good coach!

  • Therapy: A coach is not a licensed mental health professional. It’s possible a coach might suggest the benefits of therapy. Coaches are future focused as they work with you to narrow in on a goal determined by you, the client.

Consulting: Consultants can be great if you need an expert to resolve a particular challenge and provide specific assistance. They are specialized. A coach is here to empower you to see, understand and respond effectively to challenges, roadblocks or limiting beliefs that may be keeping you from achieving your goals.

Mentorship: If you are seeking advice from an individual experienced in your field, a mentor is great to have! They can give advice from a place of personal or professional experiences. A coach, however, will refrain from giving advice initially and use pointed questioning to unlock your own wisdom and grow your self awareness. You are the expert!

  • In a session, whether in person, over the phone or video chat, you can expect me to ask you about your goal(s), obstacles or roadblocks surrounding your goal and work with you to determine action items that will help you achieve your goal.

Many clients may begin coaching uncertain about their goal. Or they begin coaching and discover, change, or refine a goal. All of this is part of the process. Working with a coach can push a client towards greater clarity, courage, and creativity!

  • The type of preparation needed for coaching is going to be unique to your goals and what you want out of coaching.

However, the following questions can be helpful to reflect on prior to a coaching session: What is a challenge I am having? What do I want to focus on in this session? What would I like to have achieved by the end of my coaching?

Even if you don’t know the answers to these questions, it’s helpful to at least know you don’t know! It is a place for us to start.
